Gateway Casinos & Entertainment prepares for a busy summer that would bring quite the changes to the Ontario gaming field. Areas to the likes of London and Chatham learned more about their casino future, the latter seeing its impact sooner than expected.
In the meantime, London residents received more information about the controversial casino location that would launch in 2021. This year is about to bring many changes and new opportunities to the province of Ontario, the first one being a brand new casino location in Chatham.
July 16 is going to see the official opening ceremony of Cascades Casino Chatham. This project has been in the making for the past several years, promising economical boost to the area. What should be taken into account is that the casino venue is ready ahead of schedule but it needs two more weeks for the launch preparation.
Casino Launches Soon
July 1 would see the official key handing that would give the management enough time to prepare everything surrounding the soft-opening ceremony on July 16. The new venue would transform Richmond Street and Keil Drive into Chathamās most vibrant area with both gaming and more family-friendly offerings.
The CA$36-million casino location saw its official start of construction in July 2018, meaning that it took construction workers less than a year to conclude the project and prepare it for the key handing. Such a performance could be contributed to the good communication and collaboration between the Chatham-Kent municipality and Gateway Casinos & Entertainment.
This soft-opening is going to come right after the official Gateway Casinos Dresden official last day of business. This is going to make July 14 a memorable date for Dresden Raceway that would bid farewell to its slots venue. Chathamās new casino venue is going to need some time for gaming devices preparation that would guarantee smooth sailing from here on out. All Dresden employees will be relocated to the new casino venue and no layoffs would be necessary. Additional 100 locals will also join the staff on site.
London Braces for Rezoning Process
While this casino location is preparing to host its official launch ceremony on August 8, another Ontario one revealed more about its future. Starlight Casino London unveiled some of its features and plans for future development in the London area. The CA$75-million gambling location would be an independent building in the south end of the city that has the potential to attract quite the crowd.
The 100,000-square-foot venue is projected to feature a state-of-art gaming experience for everyone interested in making the best of it. It is going to bring both family-friendly offerings thanks to Gateway Casinosā signature restaurants, as well as premium gaming opportunities. Some 900 slot machines would be installed once casino construction is over. In addition to those, the casino would also bring some 40 table games.
Gateway Casinos will work for its rezoning process in collaboration with the Planning and Environment Committee in the upcoming weeks. Initial plans for the location included a hotel tower among everything else, but the rezoning process would have to see the scrapping of this idea. The official launch is expected to happen in 2021.
