BCLC Spreads the Love with New Campaign

For more than 34 years British Columbia Lottery Corporation has been well known for supporting local communities, healthcare, education, and many more local programs in the British Columbia region by donating a percentage from its revenue. By launching their latest local-support campaign – Spread the Local Love, they once again show that they care about the local economy.

Playing in a land-based or digital casino at PlayNow.com or even buying a lottery ticket helps to generate revenue that goes back to the local business and groups. Another way of helping out the charity campaign is by purchasing gift cards or placing silent bids on the Spread the Local Love page. This is yet another great gesture by the BCLC considering the state of the world economics over the course of last year.

Spread the Local Love Partners

It is worth mentioning that from February 1 to 15, BCLC will collaborate with 10 charitable organizations for the Spread the Local Love launch, such as Burnaby Hospital Foundation, Cariboo Memorial Hospital Foundation, Castlegar and District Community Services Society, Fort St. John Hospital Foundation, Greater Vancouver Food Bank, Kamloops Food Bank, Langley Memorial Hospital Foundation, SHARE Family & Community Services, Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, and Victoria Hospitals Foundation.

Back in August 2020, British Columbia Lottery Corporation teamed up with Givergy, for a digital fundraiser to help the locals. Givergy is a world-wide award-winning technology for raising funds online. Again, donations were generated by gambling on their website PlayNow.com, by buying a gift card for Vancouver-based businesses, or by placing bids on silent auction items.

Yet another example of a great team-up of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation was with the #SharpDressedSaturdayevent. The corporation was an official sponsor for this event that proved to be pivotal in the support of the Kamloops region. To show support for healthcare staff, this event was held entirely online thus keeping up with the social distances and gatherings measures.

Raising Awareness

Online gatherings turned out to be quite a success, collecting over CA$18,000 from generous donations, and later much of the amount was used to ease the circumstances for the Royal Island Hospital. In this undertaking, the Crown Corporation teamed up with the familiar SHARE Family & Community Services.

British Columbia Lottery Corporation has never been afraid to speak up on the gambling addiction problem, in fact, they are taking great care to ensure that people’s lives are only positively affected while gambling. For example, working with the Crown Corporation on alteration of existing gambling policies and event providing new ones that can become vital in the fight with the addiction.

In search of finding a new solution to concerning gambling addiction, discussions were held in one of the most recent online meetings – Banking on a Different Perspective: The Financial Industry’s Role in Safer Gambling. In which Natalie Ledward, Vulnerability Manager at Monzo Bank Ltd, claimed that her bank was working on supporting individuals who need help with the problem by promoting safer gambling and taking measures.
