The wait is finally over as the Lotto Max jackpot has finally been won by a single ticket holder. According to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, reveals that a player in Alberta is the big winner of the CA$70,000,000 main prize. This time the winning ticket is not located in Edmonton or Calgary. However, the exact location remains a mystery due to safety protocols.
Lotto Max is a massive draw-based game across Canada and its prizes attract the attention of many. As in this case, its jackpot can reach a whopping CA$70 million and draws are held every Tuesday and Friday. Once its jackpot crosses CA$50 million, every round also features multiple Maxmillion prizes, which are worth a cool CA$1 million each.
Albertans Should Check Their Tickets
In its press, WCLC announced that on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, a single ticket has been drawn as the winner of the mind-blowing CA$70,000,000. The winner resides somewhere in Alberta but is not located in Edmonton or Calgary. Everyone with a ticket for the draw is encouraged to check their ticket and contact the Crown agency to validate the winning.
Tuesday’s draw also determined a second prize, as another ticket matched six of the seven numbers as well as the bonus number. The winning ticket was purchased in Calgary and the holder will take home an amazing CA$284,899.70. Winning numbers for the draw were 02, 09, 10, 14, 42, 43, 44 and 25 as bonus. Only one Maxmillion was one, and it will be split between two Ontarians.
This latest draw and winning of a CA$70 million jackpot match the previous largest one in the province which occurred in the fall of 2022. Back then Calgary business owner Mitchel Dyck won a stunning windfall of the same amount. He is a regular lottery player and he usually buys tickets when he fills up his truck and his luck struck gold this one time.
However, this was not the only big lottery payout across the province, as in April 2023, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission announced yet another amazing win. This time a ticket holder from the province won a jackpot worth CA$55 million in the Lotto Max draw. Once more, the winner was not in Edmonton and Calgary. The winning numbers were 04, 19, 21, 33, 37, 38, and 39.
Lotto 6/49 Prize is Close to Expiring
In the meantime, Atlantic Lottery Corporation is looking for the winner of a major Lotto 6/49 jackpot in the Maritime provinces. One lucky ticket holder is eligible for a stunning prize of CA$64 million, but they are yet to contact the ALC about claiming it. According to the agency, the winning ticket was purchased in Gloucester County, New Brunswick.
The draw for the jackpot was on April 15, 2023, and as protocols state, winners have up to 52 weeks from the date of the drawing to claim their prize money. As per the ALC website, the winning numbers are 93331474-01. But if the prize is not cashed out until April 15, 2024, the jackpot will be lost and the money will be redistributed to future lottery windfalls in the provinces.
