FanDuel Debuts its “Think Like a Player” NBA Campaign

Gambling and sports betting leader in North America, FanDuel, has announced the kick-off for its newest new ad campaign for this year’s highly-anticipated NBA playoffs. The land-based and online gambling operator is an official partner of the NBA and its new initiative utilizes the latest deep fake technology to bring back iconic basketball players from the past to the court.

Based in New York, US, FanDuel is a leading sports-tech entertainment company which offers casino and sports betting in land-based and digital form to numerous jurisdictions. Currently, the brand operates more than 30 retail locations and has more than 17 million customers. It also offers FanDuel TV and FanDuel+ which are distributed on linear cable television and OTT platforms.

In a Collaboration with NBA

On Monday, April 10, 2023, the sports betting leader informed that its “Think Like a Player” ad initiative has now debuted. It arrives in a partnership with NBA analyst and legend Charles Barkley and utilizes a deep fake-generated version of him from the 1990s named “Young Chuck.” The purpose of the campaign is to make players think like pro athletes when wagering on the platform.

In the new ads, Mr. Barkley advises bettors to think twice before placing a wager while also recruiting “Young Chuck” to help fans understand how they can come up with thrilling Same Game Parlays on their favourite athletes. The sportsbook will also provide a special signup offer of bet U$5, get US$150 in Bonus Bets with additional offers for newly signed users.

Speaking on behalf of the company, FanDuel’s EVP of Marketing, Andrew Sneyd, commented that the gambling leader is more than excited to team up with Mr. Barkley for the NBA playoffs initiative. He believes the campaign will further strengthen the sportsbook’s spot of delivering additional value to the sports betting experience and reach new players in unique ways.

He added that the campaign, enabled the company the opportunity to flex its creative muscle and demonstrate its marketing prowess. Also, in its press release, the sportsbook informed that the ad spots will begin airing during the play-in tournament. They will be also broadcast through the conference finals, with their final spot being aired live during the finals of the competition.

In November 2022, FanDuel was recognized by the 2022 American Gambling Awards organized by for its sportsbook platform. The company’s app won the Online Sportsbook of the Year award. Judges from the panel pointed to the sportsbook’s strong commitment to customer engagement through innovative promotions as one of the main reasons for voting for the brand.

Just at the end of 2022, the operator made another important announcement about its activities. It reported that users of its online sportsbook can now access parimutuel wagering on horse racing and sports wagering with a single account. The news made the sportsbook the first U.S. sports betting brand to debut such a feature.
