FanDuel Sportsbook Merges Sports and Horse Racing Accounts

FanDuel continues to solidify its position as a leading sport betting brand in North America. This week, the New York-based gambling leader announced that users of its online sportsbook can now access parimutuel wagering on horse racing and sports wagering with a single account. The news comes after the company had a successful soft launch last week.

Based in New York, U.S., the sportsbook brand is owned by Flutter Entertainment, and it is among the most popular choices when it comes to online sports betting. The company operates in numerous legal sports wagering markets across North America, and earlier this year debuted in New York’s and Ontario’s brand-new regulated sectors.

Available with a Single Account

By adding traditional sports and horse racing wagering available through a single account, the sportsbook becomes the first U.S. sports betting brand to debut this feature. It should be noted that this initiative is part of the company’s ongoing investment in customer experience and is further continuing its commitment to attract a new generation of bettors to horse racing.

Its customers will be now able to wager and stream racing coverage from FanDuel TV and other content for which the company has acquired betting rights. Also, on top of live horse racing from U.S. leading tracks, users of the sportsbook will be also eligible to bet on the Kentucky Derby for the first time through the integrated platform in 2023.

Before this latest change, users of the online bookmaker had to open a separate account and keep a separate wallet for parimutuel betting on horse races at FanDuel Racing or TVG.com. The newly introduced combined wallet feature is available for users in New York, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, West Virginia, Wyoming, Michigan, Colorado, and Virginia. With more jurisdiction slated to follow in 2023.

Amy Howe, who is the Chief Executive Officer of FanDuel Group said a few words, on the sportsbook’s new feature. The CEO shared that horse racing is a major part of the company’s DNA and the merging of the accounts is an immense opportunity for the firm to expose a broader, engaged audience to the horse racing sport in a familiar environment.

Earlier this year, the company debuted its FanDuel TV, which is the rebranding of its TVG network. It launched this September and is available as a linear cable network on almost every major provider. One of its main focuses is horse racing, and broadcasts racing from Churchill Downs, Santa Anita, Del Mar, Keeneland, Gulfstream Park and other leading tracks.

FanDuel in Ontario

It should also be mentioned that earlier this year, FanDuel Sportsbook made its official debut in Ontario’s regulated iGaming market. However, currently, it does not offer horse racing from the province’s tracks. According to Woodbine Entertainment, this could soon change, as the horse racing operator is pushing towards launching its content on private sportsbooks.
