Playson-builds-on-strong-Ontario-presence-with-PointsBet-partnershipPlayson has deepened its footprint in Ontario’s regulated market through a strategic alliance with PointsBet, marking another milestone in its North American growth trajectory.

Founded in 2015, PointsBet quickly became one of Ontario’s fastest-rising operators after expanding into Canada, building its reputation on an integrated sportsbook and casino platform. Now, the brand’s game library has been elevated with a suite of Playson’s most successful Hold and Win titles, delivered via Light & Wonder’s aggregation platform.

Players can now enjoy hit releases such as Coin Strike: Hold and Win, Thunder Coins XXL: Hold and Win, and 4 Pots Riches: Hold and Win — all known for their immersive mechanics and player-retention appeal.

Playson’s Growth Momentum in North America

This collaboration amplifies Playson’s steady expansion across the North American iGaming sector. The company continues to deliver its engaging content to top-tier operators, further establishing its reputation for high-quality slots and innovative game features.

“Playson has enjoyed tremendous success in Ontario since entering the market in 2022, with our content hitting the sweet spot for the broad range of players across the Canadian province,” said Conor Jenner, Sales Manager at Playson. “PointsBet’s trajectory in Ontario is extremely impressive and we are confident the operator’s player base will welcome our captivating portfolio, comprising immersive gameplay and retention-focused mechanics.”

Echoing the sentiment, Brooke Hilton, Head of Casino at PointsBet Canada, remarked: “Partnering with Playson is an exciting step forward for PointsBet. Their Hold and Win collection has already proven popular with players across Ontario and we are confident it will deliver the engaging, high-quality experiences our players know and expect from PointsBet.”

Strengthening PointsBet’s Platform with Strive Gaming

The PointsBet brand has steadily enhanced its Ontario operations through additional partnerships, including its collaboration with Strive Gaming from 2023. The deal is designed to elevate the operator’s internal capabilities and support a more dynamic casino experience for players in the province.

Strive Gaming’s advanced platform allows operators to manage every aspect of player engagement, thanks to a team with more than 25 years of combined expertise in North American markets. Under this agreement, PointsBet Canada gained the ability to integrate multiple content providers seamlessly, combining both North American retail-style titles and European game innovations.

Fanatics’ Acquisition and the Canadian Focus

PointsBet’s ongoing development in Canada comes as its global operations evolve under new ownership. In 2023, Fanatics agreed to acquire the company in a deal valued at approximately US$150 million. While the purchase remains subject to regulatory approvals, PointsBet confirmed that its Canadian business will remain unaffected by the transition.

Managing Director and Group CEO Sam Swanell emphasized that the company remains committed to its Ontario operations and sees a clear path to profitability within the next 18 to 24 months. He explained that the required investment levels in Canada differ significantly from those in the U.S., allowing the brand to continue growing sustainably.

Swanell highlighted PointsBet’s steady brand recognition and performance in Ontario, noting that the company’s technological infrastructure and advanced live in-game betting systems will continue to drive its success. Despite earlier challenges — including a 2022 compliance fine from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario over advertising practices — PointsBet has strengthened its responsible gambling initiatives and secured the RG Check certification from the Responsible Gambling Council.
