Collaborating with Private Sportsbooks
In the meantime, the operator, Woodbine Entertainment, is working on debuting betting on horse races via Ontario’s private sportsbooks. This is a long-awaited change, as currently bettors from the province are limited to the two options of HPIbet and Dark Horse Bets, which are tied racetrack operators, as it is the only holder of a federal pari-mutuel betting license.
But the group is putting a lot of effort into integrating horse racing bets on third-party operators by the year’s end. This will allow prominent brands such FanDuel, DraftKings, and others to offer such wagers. Sportsbooks will gain additional betting market in the province and potentially give the operator a new source of horseplayers while also benefiting the industry.
