OLG Introduces Its New Sports Wagering Mobile App

With the rising competition in the province, the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation continues to put tremendous effort into advancing its sports wagering verticals. This week, the Crown agency announced the launch of brand-new sports betting app, which perfectly incorporates bet-building functionality for in-store purchases with direct online wagering into one integrated application.

Currently, the OLG is trying to stay up to date with trends and provide new sports betting experiences to its sports fans as it battles competition from the province’s new private market. But similar to revenue from its other gaming, lottery, and sports betting products, will are reinvested in the province to help improve the quality of life for all Ontarians

According to the OLG, its new app is developed for both in-person and online players and it is the first of its kind to be making its debut in the province’s market. By using it, bettors can place and pay for live bets in real-time on the new PROLINE+ or opt to create wagers and generate a barcode on the app, which can be utilized to purchase PROLINE tickets at retail locations.

Dave Pridmore, Chief Digital & Strategy Officer for OLG, shared that the Crown continues to expand its unique and integrated products for its valued bettors. He explained that the app allows customers to make sporting bets directly on the app or at retail by using the bet builder functionality. In his words, the product further cements the Crown’s commitment to convenience and choice for players.

OLG’s new app is free to download and it is accessible on both iOS and Android devices, while also bringing the functionality of the PROLINE+ website into a new environment. It allows its users to wager on the full suite of sports betting market and in-game wagering options, which are available on the Crown’s PROLINE web platform.

Similar to all other gaming products of OLG, the new app also promotes responsible gambling, and it comes with tools to help players create healthy habits when playing. The app also comes with access to PlaySmart.ca, which is the Crown’s internationally acknowledged responsible gambling program. By utilizing the tools, players can set limits on spend and loss to improve their experience.

Recent Agreements to Advance its Brand

The OLG’s recent launch of a new sports betting app comes on the back of several sports partnerships with major brands in the province. For instance, in June, the Crown agency announced a collaboration with the NBA, thus making its PROLINE brand the first sports betting partner for the league in Ontario. Through the partnership, Ontarians will be now able to wager on the NBA draft and more.

However, that is not all, as in June the OLG also inked a multi-year partnership with the MLB. Through this agreement, the sportsbook will become an official sports wagering partner of the league. Now the Crown corporation has distribution rights to the league’s official logos and cross-promotion across MLB digital and social channels and much more.
