The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation continues to bolster its gambling offerings, as the Crown corporation now offers its PROLINE and PROLINE+ at retail locations. With this implementation, Ontario’s sports bettors are now able to place new and innovative wagers at approximately 10,000 land-based locations across the province under the Crown’s signature online brands.
The Crown agency’s PROLINE brand is the only retail and online sports betting operator that reinvest all of its proceeds to the province. This way provides gambling entertainment and a way to support the local industry. Through the brand, the Crown is the only regulated provider of in-person and online sports wagering to the province.
Now at Ontario Retailers
With the new PROLINE product at land-based locations, bettors will be able to place their wagers on the highly-sought single-game betting. In addition to that, they also have the option to wager on new sports, events, and markets. There are new dynamic and competitive odds, as well as system bets, novelty bets, and same-day payout up to CA$1000.
The OLG also confirmed that just as always, no sign-up account is required to play in-store. Bettors must also be 18 years of age to play at the retail locations. They can first set up their wager via the new PROLINE Bet Builder App and finish the transaction by showing the app-generated barcode to the retailer. Bets can also be placed using the selection slips at the retail locations.
President and CEO of the OLG, Duncan Hannay shared that the launch is a big day for sports betting fans of Ontario. In his words, the Crown agency is allowing customers a new and exciting sports betting experience, as for the first time they can legally wager on single events such as the Super Bowl. He says that bets can now be made in a safe environment in locations by lottery retail partners.
Chief Lottery and Customer Officer for OLG, Kerstin Lack, commented that the Crown is pleased to launch the brand across almost 10,000 brick-and-mortar locations in Ontario. That can be found in convenience stores, gas, grocery, and drugstores. In his opinion, the new offering will provide an exciting new experience to patrons and support the Crown’s front-line partners.
Official Launch
The OLG officially kicked off PROLINE+ on August 27, 2021, on the day which single-event wagering was legalized by the federal government. Thus, the new platform became the first online regulated sportsbook to offer wagering on individual sporting events in the province. The new digital entity enjoyed plenty of wagering volume as for the first time Canadians were able to make such wagers.
Almost a month after that, the OLG released a survey conducted on over 1,000 Ontarians regarding single-event betting and PROLINE+. According to the questionnaire, more than half of the questioned individuals say that they prefer wagering on the platform as it seems safer than offshore betting sites. The study also found that a quarter of sports bettors and half of the frequent bettors admit they bet more during the unprecedented situation in comparison to before.
