Alberta’s First Online Regulated Sportsbook is Here

There has been huge news for the gaming industry for Alberta, as on September 1, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor, and Cannabis Commission launched the first regulated online sports betting program for the province. This was possible via the Crown’s collaboration with its partners NeoPollard Interactive, which is owned by Pollard Banknote and its other partner Sporting Solutions.

Local gamblers and sports fans now have access to sports betting offerings on the province’s only regulated web portal PlayAlberta.ca. After they sign up for an account, they can place wagers on various sporting events including matches from fan-favorite sports such as the NHL, NBA, NFL, MLB, NCAA football, and even soccer.

First Online Sportsbook

Acting President & Chief Executive Officer of AGLC, Kandice Machado stated that the Crown agency’s intention is to find new ways of improving the online platform. According to her, with the addition of sports wagering players will now have an even greater variety. She explained that the familiar sports betting offering is introduced in a safe and regulated playing environment.

Alberta’s newest sports betting offerings is made available through NeoPollard Interactive’s cutting-edge NeoSphere iLottery Technology and the Advanced Betting Platform by Sporting Solutions. The latter is a prominent B2B sports wagering provider that currently collaborates with gaming operators from all around the world. Together both companies form an exceptional sports betting experience for Albertans.

Liz Siver, General Manager, NeoPollard Interactive, said that the company continues to expand and improve its products to ensure the best possible lottery, casino, and sports betting offerings to Albertans. As the main online partner of the Crown, the company provides a complete set of solutions, including its leading technology, along with its Power Suite of operational services, and content.

CEO of Sporting Solution, Andy Wright said that the corporation is very pleased to be partnering with the AGLC and NeoPollard Interactive, in the launch of the first-ever regulated digital sportsbook for the province. Mr. Wright claimed that the introduction of the offering comes at a great time as Canada has just legalized betting on individual sporting events which will bring even greater variety for Albertans.

New AGS Product

Previously, the AGLC improved its land-based offerings as the Crown agency has launched several gaming products from AGS. Alberta was the first province to experience the gaming provider’s new Starwall x Orion slot merchandising attraction and its new Orion Curve slot cabinet in brick-and-mortar casinos. They are now available in Cash Casino Calgary, Century Casino & Hotel Edmonton, Deerfoot Inn & Casino, Grey Eagle Resort & Casino, Pure Casino Calgary, Pure Casino Edmonton, and River Cree Resort & Casino.

More New Offerings

The improvement of offering did not end there as in August, the Crown entity announced that it will be introducing Gaming Arts’ slot series Pop’N Pays™ to its land-based casinos. Alberta was the first Canadian jurisdiction to debut the product and it is currently available in the following casino properties: Century Mile Racetrack and Casino, Cowboys Casino, Deerfoot Inn & Casino, Grey Eagle Resort and Casino, River Cree Resort and Casino, and Starlight Casino Edmonton.
