US$1,000,000 Saratoga Derby Celebrated Excellence with A Thread of Blue

Saratoga Race Course saw heated action at the end of last week with milestone live racing events part of the Turf Triple Series that saw their inaugural edition this summer. August 4 brought the second leg of the eagerly anticipated Turf Tiara, Saratoga Derby coming with a US$1-million prize for the winner.

A Thread of Blue was the sire that made it to the first place at the end of this race defeating all rivals on his way. New York State’s horse field is one with quite a diverse scene where everyone seems to be able to find just what they have been looking for.

New York Racing Association has been working on a new three-legged live horse race that saw its inaugural edition this summer. Transforming Belmont Park Race Track and Saratoga Race Course, the two parallel parts of this racing series aimed to meet everyone’s expectations.

Live Racing Heated Saratoga Race Track

The Turf Tiara and Turf Trinity second legs eyed Saratoga Race Course at the beginning of this month, bringing exciting racing to the renowned location. August 4 saw the official start of the Saratoga Derby coming with a US$1-million prize.

At the beginning of the race, all 11 sires were ready to showcase their skills and possibly win big. A Thread of Blue and its jockey Luis Saez were also eager to show their best run. Kiaran McLaughlin was the trainer responsible for this stellar performance that guaranteed the snatching of the first place.

Mr. Saez stated that he was confident about the sires’ performance during the entire race and A Thread of Blue ran comfortably the entire 1 3/16-mile journey.

However, for the time being, it is still unknown whether the horse would participate in the last led of the Trinity Series that would take matters back to Belmont Park Race Track. Turf Trinity is about to see its final leg on September 7 at the US$1-million Jockey Club Derby and all eyes are set on the horses’ performance during that run.

September 7 Returns Action to Belmont Park

Mr. McLaughlin stated that the upcoming weeks would be dedicated to conversation about the next race. A Thread of Blue’s final time was 1:52.02. The inaugural Turf Triple Series offers US$5.25 million in purse money. With a rating of 6.7, the winner was among the leaders and people’s favorites. During the race, other sires such as Digital Age and Cape of Good Hope also showed excellent performance.

The second position at the end of the Saratoga Derby was reserved for Digital Age with jockey Irad Ortiz, Jr. The third position was occupied by Cape of Good Hope with his jockey Julien Leparoux. Right before the two races at Saratoga Race Track, the Whitney-Saratoga Derby Pick 6 was also announced. It commenced on Saturday with the US$500,000 Longines Test, the US$1-million Whitney, as well as the US$100,000 Fasig-Tipton De La Rose.

Sunday brought more racing action with the US$200,000 Fasig-Tipton Waya, as well as the US$200,000 Adirondack. September 7 is about to bring the last two live races of the Trinity Series Turf Tiara’s US$750,000 Jockey Club Oaks and Turf Trinity’s US$1-million Jockey Club Derby.
