Nevada Woman Hits $1.4 Million Jackpot outside Las Vegas

Casinos on the Las Vegas Strip are visited by millions of customers each year, but there are many gambling venues across the state that are just as generous to gamblers. A local woman from the state of Nevada won a jackpot of $1,418,848 this weekend while playing slots at a casino hotel just outside Las Vegas.

The jackpot of more than $1.4 million was hit on the Buffalo slot machine at the Green Valley Ranch Resort which is located in the City of Henderson, Nevada. The city is only 16 miles away from Las Vegas and it is home to the upscale Green Valley neighbourhood where there is no sign of the glamorous nightlife and the neon lights of Sin City. Instead, the Green Valley Ranch Resort located there is a large, Mediterranean-inspired casino and spa hotel with a gaming floor covering 143,891 sq. ft. The lucky Buffalo slot by Aristocrat is one of the 2,000 slot machines offered at the casino.

The woman who won $1,418,848.95 before taxes has decided to remain anonymous, a spokesperson of Station Casinos announced in a press release Saturday. Nevada-based Station Casinos owns and operates the luxury casino resort, along with around twenty other properties in the state, including Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and the companyā€™s flagship facility, the Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa.

Not the First Jackpot Won off the Strip

Although most of Nevadaā€™s casinos are located in Las Vegas, on or near the renowned Strip, many of the large jackpots have been hit off the Strip. Recently, a regular visitor to the MontBleu Casino won a jackpot of around $1.3 million. The gambler, who also wished to keep their identity private, was playing three-reel, one-line Wheel of Fortune 5X Pay machine.

Wagering only $2, the casino customer won IGTā€™s progressive jackpot on March 10. After the win, the jackpot was reset to its seed value of $1 million. The MontBleu Casino is located in Stateline, Nevada, and it was known as Caesars Tahoe until 2006 when it was purchased and rebranded. It is now owned by Carl Icahnā€™s Tropicana Entertainment Inc.

This weekendā€™s win is certainly not the first jackpot hit in Station Casinos. One of the biggest prizes for the casino chain was won last year at Fiesta Henderson, another casino resort operated by the company in Henderson, Nevada. The jackpot of $10 million was hit in September 2017 by a man, simply referred to as Roger, on IGTā€™s Megabucks progressive slot machine. The prize of $10,192,523.88 is the original sum before taxes. Although the winner did not clarify whether he would take the jackpot as a lump sum (which means he receives less cash than the actual value of the jackpot) or he would opt for annuity payments, IGTā€™s jackpots are typically paid at once.
