The Isle of Man revealed a key appointment, which is to further enhance its positions on the iGaming market. It was announced that Tony Ure is taking the reins of the Isle of Man’s Department of Economic Development. He was recently appointed as the new Head of eGaming. The official is replacing the former Head Mark Robson, who resigned from office in March this year. Mr. Ure’s vast knowledge of the gambling industry will help him to keep in step with the Isle of Man’s fast pace. In his new role, Mr. Ure will be responsible for promoting the Isle of Man’s gambling sector and help companies to enter the market for better quality of service.

Prior to his new role, Mr. Ure worked in various management roles around the globe. He worked for some of the most reputable brands on the gambling scene and his experience spreads over 30 years. Mr. Ure went a long way until he finally reached the peak of his career. He started his career with Grosvenor Casinos, where he reeved his way to the top slowly, but surely. His experience and know-how approach helped him to launch a new casino operation for the Sheraton Group in Egypt.

Having his hands full of knowledge about land-based casinos, Mr. Ure re-directed his career, diving into the immense world of online gambling. At first, he joined the UK gambling operator Ladbrokes Coral’s team in Gibraltar, being assigned the task to manage and launch the company’s online poker operations. He actively participated in the creation of the Sky Poker Million tournament, which reaped great success among the poker enthusiasts.

His enviable career success drew the attention of the American gambling solutions supplier IGT (International Game Technology), which named Tony Ure Head of Poker Operations. He spent 10 years at the company’s helm, before being appointed a consultancy position to the gaming industry in 2016. Mr. Ure is to be introduced to the iGaming community as the new Head of the Isle of Man’s Department of Economic Development at the forthcoming trade conference Excellence in iGaming (EiG), which is to kick off on 30th October at Arena Berlin.

Isle of Man’s Online Gambling Pedigree

The Isle of Man was one of the first jurisdictions to regulate online gaming operations and to establish a secure atmosphere for players. The main reason for Isle of Man to be a tier one jurisdiction on the gambling scene is the regulations, which respond to the interests of the players and the operators at the same time. The Isle offers favorable conditions for the development of the online gambling industry, which accounts for almost 20% of the Isle’s economy. Among all other things, the Isle provides a number of economic benefits and clear rules, which seems to match the operators’ preferences. The Isle of Man Government invested many efforts in order to introduce an appealing infrastructure for the online gambling industry but now it reaps the fruits of its efforts.
