Five Parq Vancouver Contractors Win Six VRCA Silver Awards for Dealing with Construction Challenges

Despite all the construction challenges faced by Parq Vancouver, the project brought six Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) Silver Awards to five contractors for their work on the international entertainment destination in downtown Vancouver.

Parq Vancouver, which is currently the only urban resort situated in Western Canada, comprises of two luxury hotels, a hotel ballroom, the Edgewater Casino, as well as eight bars, restaurants and lounges, a conference center, retail space, and a parkade. Reportedly, the facility was called ā€œa challenging project with a fast-tracked timelineā€ by the judges of the awards committee.

The five contractors which won the awards are ETRO Construction Limited, Ebernisteries Beaubois, Glastech Glazing Contractors, House Electric Limited and PMB Joint Venture.

ETRO Construction Limited was the general contractor who was engaged with two tenant improvement projects in Parq Vancouver ā€“ The Victor Steakhouse and the JW Marriott Spa. The awards committee judges applauded the contractor for being able to adapt to factors which were beyond its control and eventually delivered impressive results. A number of hurdles have been encountered by the contractors who worked on the Parq Vancouver constructions, with ETRO and its subcontractors succeeding to accelerate the construction schedule and meet the construction schedule.

Parq Vancouver Is the Main Driver of British Columbiaā€™s Economic Development

Casino Reports revealed earlier this year that Parq Vancouver has become the highest-paying employer in the casino sector of the province of British Columbia. Over the past few decades, the casino gaming in Canada has gained popularity not only among local residents but also among many casino investors who chose to enter the Canadian gambling market.

The iconic Parq Vancouver casino officially started operation in September 2017, with the hotel and casino resort currently being the biggest private development in the province of British Columbia. After its grand opening, the resort, which development was worth CA$640 million, became the engine of the cityā€™s economic development.

The project has been compared to a number of similar properties in Las Vegas, but the owners of the complex have highlighted the fact that the project had been planned as the local version of a high-end casino and hotel complex. The gambling element, of course, is a crucial part of the complexā€™ operation but it has not been the only source of income for the propertyā€™s owners.

Now, as mentioned above, five contractors that have taken part in the construction of the venue, won six VRCA Silver Awards in different categories. ETRO Construction Limited was awarded in the General Contractorsā€™ Tenant Improvement category. Ebenisterie Beaubois got the Directorā€™s Trade Award in the Trade Contractors category, while Glastech Glazing Contractors got the Founderā€™s Trade Award in the same category. In the Electrical Contractors ā€“ Over CA$5 million Category, it was Houle Electric Limited which got the award, and last but not least, the PMB Joint Venture got awards in the Mechanical Contractors Up to CA$3 million and Over CA$9 million categories.
