The Swedish gaming supplier confirmed on May 22 that the licence will allow it to distribute its online casino portfolio to licensed operators in Alberta ahead of the province’s expected regulated market launch later this year.

The move adds another Canadian jurisdiction to Play’n GO’s regulated operations, building on its existing activity in Ontario and Quebec. The company said the Alberta approval supports its long-term focus on operating in regulated markets and expanding through licensed partnerships.

Alberta Added to North American Expansion Plans

According to Play’n GO, the licence was issued by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Commission (AGLC), giving the company access to one of Canada’s upcoming regulated online gaming markets.

Magnus Olsson commented on the approval, stating: “Being granted a licence in Alberta is another important step in our North American growth journey and further strengthens our presence in Canada.

“Regulated markets are the foundation of our business, and Alberta represents an exciting opportunity to expand our footprint in a jurisdiction that shares our commitment to high standards, player protection and long-term sustainability.”

The company explained that its Alberta preparations included adapting technology and game content to local regulatory standards. Play’n GO also confirmed that an initial selection of games is currently undergoing certification ahead of launch readiness in the province.

The Alberta licence forms part of the supplier’s wider strategy focused on expansion through regulated jurisdictions while working alongside licensed operators.

Retro Horror Slot Added to Recent Releases

Alongside its Alberta announcement, Play’n GO also introduced a new game release titled Treats of Terror, which continues the horror-themed concept introduced in the original Treats of Terror slot.

Released on May 21, the game takes players into a stylised 1980s arcade setting built around a 5×5 grid format. The title features animated snack characters, neon arcade visuals, and a central character called the Gobstopper, described as a creature hunting down prizes throughout the arcade.

The supplier described the sequel as a mix of retro arcade nostalgia and cartoon-inspired horror elements, with the setting shifting from the haunted cinema featured in the original game to a brightly lit arcade environment.

Play’n GO stated that the new release continues the brand’s focus on stylised horror themes while expanding the setting into a louder and more visually chaotic arcade atmosphere inspired by 1980s gaming culture.

The Alberta licence and latest slot release arrive as Play’n GO continues expanding its regulated market footprint across North America and Canada’s evolving online gaming sector.
