Steve O’Dwyer Wins Two High Roller Events during 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK

The poker pro Steve O’Dwyer proved himself as one of the most successful poker players of all time after winning two major live poker events within a few days.

After emerging victorious from the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK £25,000 Super High Roller event for £450,000, he also took down the £10,000 High Roller event, adding another trophy on his account, as well as a monetary prize worth £314,000 (US$409,294). The latest winning helped O’Dwyer approach the US$25-million mark of his all-time live earnings, which currently amount to US$24,796,309.

To emerge victorious from the £10,000 High Roller event, O’Dwyer managed to survive the longest from a 105-player field that was gathered at the Nottingham’s Dusk Till Dawn casino and met the prize pool guarantee of £1,000,000. The 36-year-old player also faced tough competition at the final table, including Dominik Nitsche, Preben Stokkan and Joao Vieira.

Managing to pull through a back-to-back victory in poker is not extremely rare, but doing it within a week is actually a great accomplishment for a poker player.

Third Day of the Event and Final Table

The third day of the High Roller event saw only 13 players return to their seats, with only eleven of them set to finish in the money. Eventually, it was Mustapha Kanit and Anton Wigg who were left empty-handed, after Kanit became the bubble-boy who got eliminated from the competition before he could lay hands at least on the minimum cash prize of £22,500.

After a long money-bubble, the next few players were sent home relatively quickly, until there were only three players left around the final table of the High Roller event. After Dominik Nitsche got eliminated on the fourth position, O’Dwyer finished off Preben Stokkan as well, sending him on the third place. With Stokkan gone, the only man standing between O’Dwyer and the victory was the Italian poker pro Gianluca Speranza.

The heads-up play started with O’Dwyer holding a 2 to 1 chip lead, but Speranza managed to crack his lead, with them both having an equal amount of chips at one point of the game. Still, Steve O’Dwyer managed to take the lead once again, leaving Speranza much behind. A few hands later, he was crowned as the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK £10,000 High Roller winner.

With Steve O’Dwyer taking down the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK £10,000 High Roller event for £314,000 (US$409,294), Gianluca Speranza from Italy remained on the runner-up position, taking home a total of £193,000 (US$251,592). The third position was occupied by Preben Stokkart from Norway, who received a prize pool portion of £129,000 (US$168,165).

Another successful poker player – Dominik Nitsche – remained fourth, followed by Michael Zhang and Chris Brammer from the UK. The seventh place was taken by Joao Vieira, while Anthony Elliott remained eighth.
