This week, the British Columbia Lottery Corporation issued a statement that another major Lotto Max windfall has been registered in the Province of B.C. The winning was recorded during this Tuesday’s draw.

Lotto Max is a fan-favourite game among Canadian lottery players, as it offers some of the most generous payouts. Its main jackpot can reach the whooping CA$70 million, meanwhile, its draws could feature several Maxmillion prizes, each of those coming at a hefty CA$1 million. There are two draws for the game every week, one on Tuesday, and the other on Friday.

Looking for the Sole Winner

BCLC’s latest press release confirms that a local ticket holder is now CA$55 million richer, and their ticket was the only one to match all seven winning numbers from the February 28, 2023 draw of Lotto Max. However, the winner could still be unaware that they have won, and the Crown urges everyone to check their tickets for the Tuesday draw.

According to estimations from the lottery regulator, the odds of winning a Lotto Max jackpot are 1 in 33,294,800 per CA$5 entry. Tickets can be checked via the official app or at lottery retailer scanners. The winning numbers combination for this week’s draw was 1, 3, 8, 24, 35, 42, and 43. Prize winners have up to 52 weeks to cash out on their prizes or they expire.

Last year, alone B.C. lottery enthusiasts managed to claim more than CA$173 million in prizes from Lotto Max. For the last calendar year, the BCLC reported that including winnings from the game, locals cashed out over CA$802 million in lottery prizes from all kinds of games. This translated to more than 100 million winning tickets sold at provincial retailers or online on PlayNow.com.

In its annual report on lottery prize money, the Crown corporation reported that the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley regions generated the largest portion of the CA$802 million in winnings with CA$382.1 million in prizes among players. They were followed by the Thompson Okanagan region has registered a total volume of CA$226.2 million and Vancouver Island with CA$110.8 million.

Previous Big Winners

Some of the big winners in B.C. from 2022, include West Kelowna resident Jennifer Cole, who last summer obtained a cheque worth CA$31 million. Her windfall was won in Lotto Max draw on July 8, 2022. She managed to do it by playing the nationwide lottery product via her lottery subscription on BCLC’s PlayNow.com.

The windfall was claimed by Ms. Cole at a BCLC prize centre in Kamloops. There she shared that she heard that someone who buys tickets on PlayNow has won the jackpot and she logged in to her account which fortunately for her, turned out to be just her. Now, she is tasked with the cool responsibility of finding a purpose for her CA$31-million reward.
