Ontarian Snatches a CA$60M Lotto Max Jackpot

According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, this week a lottery player from the province has woken up to a CA$60,000,000 jackpot. On Wednesday, the Crown agency confirmed that a ticket holder from Richmond Hill, Ontario, is the winner of the massive jackpot from Tuesday’s November 29, 2022 draw. Players are advised to check their tickets.

Lotto Max is one of the most popular lottery offerings among Canadians, as the nationwide draw-based game comes with some hefty cash prizes. For instance, the main prize can reach the mind-boggling CA$70,000,000. In addition to that, once the main windfall goes above CA$50 million, there are several Maxmillion prizes up for grabs, each worth the cool CA$1 million.

Looking for the Winner

In a press release on Wednesday, spokesperson for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Tony Bitonti, reported that Tuesday’s draw found a winner for the CA$60,000,000 jackpot. The identity of the winner is yet unknown, but they reside in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The lucky ticket holder has up to 52 weeks to confirm the win the claim their hefty payout.

This is the second multi-million Lotto Max winning recorded in the province for the span of one month. Previously, an 83-year-old grandmother from Vankleek Hill also won a life-changing CA$60 million by playing the game. Her ticket which was bought from the Foodland on Highway 34 in Vankleek Hill was drawn as the sole winner for the grand prize in the November 1, 2022 draw.

In addition to the grand prize, Ontarians also claimed two second-prize winnings, said, Mr. Bitonti. Each of the winnings is worth CA$121,440. The first winner is from Ottawa, while the other one is from North York. Unfortunately for ticket holders from the province, no ticket was eligible for one of the many Maxmillion windfalls in the draw.

Last week, the Crown corporation, also revealed that Jeffrey Gurczenski from Mississauga has won an amazing CA$150,000 by playing The Bigger Spinner game. This is the second major lottery win for the 64-year-old in just one year. A few months back, the lottery player won almost CA$100,000 in a round of Poker Lotto.

Lottery enthusiasts can now start preparing for the next draw, which is scheduled to be held on Friday, December 2, 2022. This round of Lotto Max will come with a main prize of CA$15,000,000. Tickets for the game are available for purchase at lottery retailers or online on provincially regulated platforms such as OLG.ca, PlayNow, lotoquebec.com, ALC.ca and others.

Largest Lotto Max Win in Alberta

In November, Alberta also rewrote its Lotto Max history as a local grabbed the largest win in the history of the province. The name of the lucky winner is Mitchel Dyck who is now CA$70,000,000 richer. With the major prize, the Calgary business owner plans to take his family on a Christmas holiday, as well as use the money for his children’s education.
