Caesars Windsor Casino Debuts Retail Sports Betting

After several Ontario casinos have already debuted retail sports betting, Caesars Windsor Casino will also follow this week. Most recently, the gaming hotspot announced that this week, the casino is launching a brand-new Caesars Sportsbook for its many sports fans. At the new venue, patrons will be able to wager on their preferred sporting events while also enjoying food and drinks.

The introduction of retail sports betting at Ontario casinos was enabled by the legalization of single-event betting in August 2021. This was done by enacting Bill C-218 as law, which amended the Criminal Code and lift the ban on single-game betting. The changes were made as a way of advancing the industry and keeping Canadians from wagering on offshore websites.

Caesars Sportsbook Commences Work This Week

In its press release, the casino informed the public, that its new state-of-the-art Caesars Sportsbook will have a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. It is scheduled for Wednesday, January 11, 2023, and it will feature a former Edmonton Oiler and Hockey Hall of Famer, Grant Fuhr. Also, worth noting is that the special ceremony will take place in front of the casino’s Legends Sports Bar.

In addition to the hockey legend, other important guests are also expected to be present at the ceremony. Such as Windsor West MP Brian Masse, who lobbied for the decriminalization of single-event sports betting after former Windsor-Tecumseh MP Joe Comartin retired. Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens and the President of Caesars Windsor, Kevin Laforet are also among the guests.

Guests of the Windsor gaming amenity will be glad to learn that the new retail sportsbook will feature seven self-service betting kiosks. They will be complemented by 22 large-screen HD LED TVs, which will stream important sporting events from all around the world. In its press, the casino said that the elevated, modern design provides an inviting space to enjoy sports events.

Retail Sports Betting Already Available in Some Ontario Casinos

The first casinos in Ontario to offer in-person sports wagering were several of Great Canadian Entertainment’s properties, which debuted the new offering late in October 2022. The company launched four dedicated sports betting lounges named Great Canadian Sportsbooks at Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel, Pickering Casino Resort, Elements Casino Brantford and Shorelines Casino Belleville.

Meanwhile, the operator also found a way to introduce the new vertical across several other casino properties in the province. This was done by installing sportsbook kiosks at the gaming floors of Casino Woodbine, Shorelines Casino Peterborough, Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands, Elements Casino Mohawk, Elements Casino Grand River, and Elements Casino Flamboro.

Shortly after that Niagara Falls’ Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara also introduced retail sports betting. Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort installed 21 gaming kiosks at its premises which went online on November 16, 2022. Meanwhile its counterpart, Casino Niagara added such sports betting activities shortly after, on November 23, 2022.
