Ontario Casinos Now Offer Retail Sports Betting

A new age has officially begun for Ontario and its rapidly developing casino industry. Starting from Friday, several land-based Great Canadian Entertainment casinos in the province have now launched in-person sports betting lounges at their premises. The new venues allow Ontarians to wager on sports events at brick-and-mortar casinos for the first time ever.

Established in 1982, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation is among the largest retail casino operators in Canada. It operates 25 gaming, entertainment, and hospitality properties in Ontario, B.C., New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia. Via its operations, it is also able to give back to communities to support over 1,400 charitable organizations across the country.

Great Canadian Sportsbooks are Here

Starting from October 28, 2022, GCEā€™s dedicated sportsbook lounges named Great Canadian Sportsbooks are up and running at several of its casinos in Ontario. The amenities in question are Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel, Pickering Casino Resort, Elements Casino Brantford and Shorelines Casino Belleville. These new lounges now offer in-person sports wagering and more.

In addition to that, the gaming conglomerate informed that six more of its Ontario amenities will launch sportsbook kiosks within existing gaming areas. The six casinos are Casino Woodbine, Shorelines Casino Peterborough, Shorelines Casino Thousand Islands, Elements Casino Mohawk, Elements Casino Grand River, and Elements Casino Flamboro. Their patrons will be able to wager on various sports events, via the kiosk or via the casino cash page.

CEO of the company, Tony Rodio, shared that the priority is to always bolster the experience for the firmā€™s many guests at entertainment destinations. In his words, the launch of the sports betting lounges is another great example of just this. He said that the new features reflect the companyā€™s commitment to investing in the facilities and the communities it operates.

Great Canadian Entertainmentā€™s launch of retail sportsbooks comes right after the company completed its rebranding. The company was formerly known as the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation. It has also launched its new Great Canadian Rewards, which is the firmā€™s latest player rewards program. It is now available for bettors at its 12 Ontario amenities.

The companyā€™s CEO has also sent special thanks to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and the provincial government for supporting the initiative and making it a reality. Once retail sportsbooks are permitted in the province, it is expected that even more casino operators will launch such sports betting venues.

Supplied by Kambi

And in order to bring the retail sportsbooks to life, Great Canadian Entertainment has relied on technology from Kambi Group. The two companies announced their multi-year agreement earlier this month, which allows for the technology provider to supply 10 of the operatorā€™s land-based properties with sports wagering technology and other related services.
