A family from Laurentides, Québec received a life-changing gift just before the holidays. Loto-Québec reported that Nancy Gauthier, her mother Jeannette Boisvert and her mother’s spouse Gilles Larouche are the winners of a CA$50,000,000 jackpot in a Lotto Max round. The winners are now set to enjoy a stress-free life and live closer to nature.
Lotto Max is a nationwide draw-based game highly popular among lottery players with its hefty payouts and two draws every week. One on Tuesday, and one on Friday. Its jackpot is an accumulative one which can reach the whooping CA$70,000,000. Once the main prize reaches CA$50 million, its draw also features several Maxmillion prizes, each worth CA$1 million.
Cashing Out the the Mega Prize
The daughter Nancy is the one who bought the ticket after her mother suggested it, and she was also the one to discover the CA$50,000,000 windfall after checking the numbers on lotoquebec.com. Once she saw their ticket was the winning one, she fell to her knees and screamed with happiness. She even kept the ticket on her until presented to the Crown corporation.
Nancy shared that she had always dreamed of claiming her prize in a limousine, which she was able to do on December 21, 2023, when she and two other winners claimed their windfall. To celebrate the winning ticket purchased at Couche-Tard at 508 Boulevard Saint-Anne in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, the trio said that they would purchase a small farm to live together.
Before the Laurentides winning, Quebec also witnessed Estrie residents Catherine Ennis and Jean Larocque take home a hefty CA$55,000,000 in the form of a Lotto Max jackpot. The two have been consistent lottery players for over 50 years, and their luck paid out on the October 31, 2023, draw of the game. And despite being Halloween it was not a prank.
However, that is not all, as over Thanksgiving weekend in October 2023, a Montréal local also claimed a significant $50,000,000 jackpot with Lotto Max. The name of the winner was Pierre Richer and his ticket was the sole winning one in the October 6, 2023 draw. He got the winning ticket at Super C on Boulevard Champlain when buying some Thanksgiving fixings.
Quebecers Win Big in 2023
Jean-François Bergeron, President and Chief Executive Officer at Loto-Québec commented that 2023 has been a generous one to Quebecers and he is glad to be helping locals this way. Isabelle Jean, Executive Vice-President and COO of Lottery Games noted it is a lucky end to the year, as the Laurentides win was the third Lotto Max jackpot won in the province in under three months.
But that is not all, as the Crown corporation also shared that another Laurentides resident was lucky enough to win a lottery jackpot weekend. This time it was in the Québec 49. Meanwhile. Denise Drysdelle Cyr, also from the Laurentides, took home the December 16 Québec Max jackpot worth CA$2,000,000 with a ticket she purchased online on lotoquebec.com.
