Woodbine Entertainment Draws Mohawk Million Posts

Horse racing fans of Canada are in for a treat this weekend, as Woodbine Entertainment will host the upcoming Mohawk Million and Metro Pace races on September 25. The live harness leader held the draw for the events’ post position on September 20, 2021, during a special edition of the Woodbine Racing Live simulcast program.

The draw took place yesterday at 6:30 p.m., and the pre-race special production was hosted by Mark McKelvie. Fans had the ability to watch the draw live through any simulcasting location or at the company’s official website. Slot owner had until noon yesterday to announced their two-year-old trotters for the Mohawk Million slots.

Exciting Weekend Ahead

Yesterday’s draw has determined that the 10-horse field of Mohawk Million will feature plenty of capable two-year-old trotters. Starting with King of The North, who won a spot behind the gate with his win of the CA$640,000 William Wellwood Memorial on September 11, for driver Mark MacDonald and trainer Ray Schnittker. The colt has been drawn at post 2 and this will be his eighth career start.

The field on Saturday will also feature the undefeated Venerable. The filly was drawn to start from post-position number 9, after her impressive victory in the CA$392,000 Peaceful Way for trainer Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman. Trainer Luc Blais and owner Serge Godin’s nom-de-racecourse will send out OSS Gold Series winner Star Power Hanover from post 1 and his stablemate Mischevious Rose from post 3.

William Wellwood Memorial runner-up Duly Resolved will be starting Saturday’s race at post position number 8. And recent Kentucky Sire Stakes winner Selfie Queen will be at post 10. At number 4 will start Valentina Blu, followed by Southwind Domino, who will start at post position number 5. Dover In Motion will begin at post 6 and The Might Hill is placed at number 7.

The CA$824,000 Metro Pace will feature a field of 12 two-year-old pacers. Atlas Hanover will start at post 1 on Saturday. Then at number 2, we have Bob Loblaw, followed by Many Moons at 3, and Fourever Boy at 4. Post position number 5 is for Betterhavemymoney, the sixth goes to Wearinmysixshooter, and Ridinlikeyastoleit gets number 7. True Blue Lindy, Caviart Camden, Nautical Hanover, Monte Miki, and Market Based will be respectively 8,9,10,11 and 12.

38th North America Cup

This summer, fans of live horse racing have also witnessed the CA$1 million Pepsi North America Cup, which is considered the most thoroughbred event in the country. To the crowd’s surprise, the 38th annual event was won by Desperate Man, who recorded a time of 1:49.3 for the win. Bulldog Hanover came short and finished second.

New Measures

After the recent announcement of new health and safety protocols by the government of Ontario, Woodbine Entertainment said that it supports the new regulations. The company’s Woodbine Racetrack, Casino Woodbine, Woodbine Mohawk Park Racetrack, Elements Casino Mohawk, Greenwood Teletheatre, and WEGZ Stadium Bar will require its staff to present proof of full vaccination upon entry. If not immunized, workers will be required to participate in the Enhanced Screening Program.
