San Diego’s Pala Casino Resort and Spa Brings $170 Million Expansion Project Into Play

Pala Casino Resort and Spa announced that it will launch a high-budget expansion project worth $170 million by the beginning of October to drastically transform and improve the resort appearance, aiming to meet its customers’ requirements.

The first sod will be turned in the beginning of October 2017, when the construction work will start. The whole project is expected to be finished somewhere in May 2019, when the resort will be completely transformed and renovated.

The project includes expansion of the number of hotel rooms from the current 507 to 854, expansion of the gaming space from 90,000 square feet to over 102,000 square feet, a parking garage expansion and redesigning the interior of the already existing rooms, restaurants and others.

The completion of the project is supposed to allow Pala Casino Resort and Spa to effectively compete with the other resorts, including Harrah’s Resort Southern California, which offers over 1,000 hotel rooms.

Pala CEO Bill Bembenek explained that the main goal of the expansion project is to meet and even exceed the customers’ expectations. He added that the hotel is often fully booked, and the resort cannot stand the constantly growing surge of customers. This signals that the gaming industry in San Diego, California is proliferating as Pala Casino Resort and Spa is not the only one, which is launching or just finished an expansion project.

Currently, four other resorts in the area are in a process of reconstruction and expansion, including Pechanga, Sycuan Casino, Viejas Casino & Resort and Barona Resort & Casino. Harrah’s Resort SoCal already finished with its years-long reconstruction project, which cost nearly $160 million.

Mr. Bembenek admitted that all the resorts in the area are doing a great improvement job. Thus, to stay ahead of the competition and please its customers, Pala Casino Resort and Spa announced that it will kick off the construction work as early as the coming fall. It was reported that this is the third time, in which Pala undergoes transformation since it opened its doors for the first time in April 2001.

With the completion of the construction work, Pala will be able to welcome more customers, offering them deluxe and classy atmosphere. When it comes to its gaming space, Pala Casino will increase the number of the video and slot machines, as well as its table games.

Pala’s expansion will also contribute to the growth of the economy, as it is expected to generate more revenues for the local treasury from both tourist and gaming activities. Moreover, it will create many new job opportunities, which means that the unemployment rate will drop down.
