Ontario’s market includes more than 40 licensed operators, so this list isn’t complete. Check any site that isn’t listed here using the steps below.

How Ontario’s online casino market works

Under the Criminal Code, gambling must be “conducted and managed” by a province. Ontario does this through two bodies:

  • The AGCO is the regulator. It registers operators and sets the rules they must follow, called the Registrar’s Standards for Internet Gaming.
  • iGaming Ontario, a subsidiary of the AGCO, signs an operating agreement with each private operator and runs the market on the province’s behalf.

OLG.ca, the province’s own lottery and casino site, also operates in Ontario. Any other online casino that targets Ontario players without registering is operating illegally.

How to check that a site is licensed

  1. Look for the iGaming Ontario logo. Licensed sites display it, usually in the footer.
  2. Check the official list. iGaming Ontario’s website lists every registered operator and its sites. Make sure the web address matches exactly, since copycat sites exist.
  3. Use the Ontario version of the site. Many international brands run a separate Ontario site, often on a “.ca” address or an “on.” subdomain. The global version of the same brand isn’t licensed in Ontario.

If a site that targets Ontario players doesn’t appear on the list, don’t play there. Licensed sites must follow Ontario’s rules on fair games, payouts and player protection, and you can complain to the regulator if something goes wrong.

What Ontario’s rules mean for players

  • No public bonus ads. Operators can’t advertise bonuses or other incentives to the general public. You’ll only see offers on an operator’s own site or in messages you’ve agreed to receive. That’s also why we don’t show bonus offers to visitors in Ontario.
  • No athletes in betting ads. Since February 2024, active and retired athletes generally can’t appear in gambling ads, except to promote responsible gambling.
  • Ontario-only tables. Players can only play poker and other shared games against other players in Ontario. In 2025, Ontario’s Court of Appeal ruled that international tables would be lawful. The Supreme Court of Canada heard an appeal in October 2026 and hasn’t ruled yet.
  • Identity checks. You’ll need to verify your identity and confirm you’re in Ontario when you play. Sites use location checks, so you can’t play from outside the province.

Payments at Ontario casinos

Licensed Ontario sites take Canadian dollars. The most common methods are:

Regulated Ontario sites don’t accept cryptocurrency. See our guide to casino deposit methods for Canada for more.

Playing safely in Ontario

  • Self-exclusion: since May 2026, BetGuard lets you exclude yourself from every licensed Ontario site in one step. Licensed sites must link to it.
  • Limits: every licensed site lets you set deposit, loss and time limits from your account.
  • Free help: ConnexOntario offers free, confidential support 24 hours a day at 1-866-531-2600.

FAQs

Is online gambling legal in Ontario?

How many online casinos are licensed in Ontario?

More than 40 operators run over 70 licensed sites, and the number changes as operators join or leave. iGaming Ontario’s website has the current list.

Why can’t I see casino bonuses in Ontario?

Ontario’s rules don’t allow operators to advertise bonuses to the public. Offers are only shown on an operator’s own site or to players who’ve agreed to receive them.
