Gateway Casinos London Commences Expansion Plan

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment has now started off its CA$50 million-plus overhaul of Gateway Casinos London in the Western Fair District. Via the expansion, the London gaming amenity will boost its gaming floor from 70,000 to 84,000 square feet. Also, the renovation is expected to transform the facility into a modern gambling and dining hotspot.

As one of the leading land-baser operators in Canada, Gateway Casinos runs 29 gaming amenities in British Columbia and Ontario, with another two sites in Edmonton, Alberta. Its operations provide work to over 7,000 individuals while its properties contain approximately 369 table games 14,284 slots, 95 diners, and 564 hotel rooms for guests’ convenience.

Renovations Have Begun

General Manager of the London gambling location, Darcy Romanin said the overhaul of the casino would result in a larger gaming floor, more tables, and two new restaurants, including the company’s trademark Match Eatery and Public House and the Chow Lucky Noodle House. The Match Eatery will also be separated from the casino floor to provide a more family-friendly atmosphere.

But that is not all, as the expansion of the property will also feature a heated patio and a performance stage for local artists to perform. According to the company, the larger gaming floor will include 891 slot machines and 18 live gaming tables which will be sprinkled around a new centralized bar. Exterior will also be revamped to feature the “Cascades” brand.

Coun. Susan Stevenson is glad that the casinos are getting renovated and said that the purpose was to transform the site into a regional destination and the overhaul is the next big step for it. It should be mentioned that the area almost lost the site, but last year, the gaming operator said that it is committed to the region, by signing an extended lease with the Western Fair District.

Reg Ash, CEO of Western Fair District elaborated that the transformation of the casino into Cascades Casino will be a benefit to London, and guests will also be glad to find new and expanded gaming and food offerings. He added that everyone will benefit from the enhanced economic impact for London and the region through jobs and tourism to the city.

The General Manager assured that despite the extensive reconstructions, redevelopment activities will be hard to notice for customers. He explained that the whole plan will take twenty-seven months to finish, but it is divided into five phases, in order not to impact customers. It is estimated that the construction will finish in late 2025 and will provide 100 new jobs.

New Affiliate Marketing Deal with OLG

In July 2023, Gateway Casinos struck another crucial partnership, as the brick-and-mortar operator signed a new affiliate marketing collaboration with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. Via this collaboration, the operator will promote OLG’s online slots, table games, live casinos, and digital sportsbook, PROLINE+ on OLG.ca to guests of its 14 gaming locations across Ontario.
