There are a good dozen small gaming studios that work exclusively with Games Global. Slingshot Studios is one of the first of them, and also one of the smallest in the bunch. Their selection of games is a mere dozen slots, with a release schedule that might be just a single game during an entire year.
So if it’s not the quantity that brings players to these games, it must certainly be quality. And given that they have been given access to brands like Game of Thrones, we can say for certain that a lot of effort is put into polishing the slots. You’ll also run into trademark mechanics like Link&Win.
Join us as we have a deeper look at the story of Slingshot Studios, where you can encounter their games, and what those games look like.
History
The company was established in 2016, with headquarters in South Africa. It took two years for the company to release its first game, Cash of Kingdoms. During that time they signed up for the Quickfire platform, which back then was operated by Microgaming.
Besides the platform changing hands, now being operated by Games Global, and the company releasing new games at a leisurely pace, there isn’t much more to report here. Content on quietly working on their games suggests that perhaps we should have a look at the slots themselves next.
Popular Slots
Whilst not numerous the games are quite widely available, especially for Canadian casino players. Thanks to attention to detail and some interesting gameplay mechanics, these slots tend to rank quite high in casino lobbies. Take a look at the following games:
- Spin Spin Sugar
- A Dark Matter
- African Legends
- Banana Odyssey
- Links of Fire
- Jade Shuriken
- Zombie Hoard
- Leprechaun Links
- Game of Thrones Power Stacks
- Links of Ra
Inspiration for the themes comes from all over, whether that is ancient history and mythological beings, or simply the latest TV shows, or just sugary treats. Most of the slots offer a fairly familiar view on the screen. That means five reels, each with three or four symbols. And as you would guess, the more symbols the more paylines there are for calculating wins. And so far this is the only way for determining wins, save for the jackpots of course.
The games work on mobile and desktop devices alike, but it’s pretty clear that the interface is built with smartphones and the like in mind. Despite this, the games are geared towards heavy graphics with lots of animations and plenty of other effects. Sound and music is also part of the experience.
The visuals aside, how do the games play out? Let’s have a look at the specials next.
Special Features and Mechanics
You’ll quickly notice that fixed jackpots, or similar pots, play the main role in most of the games. So much so that they often take equal space on the screen as the reels. These can either be activated via time-tested methods like Link&Win, originally developed by Microgaming itself.
This system works by triggering via a certain number of specialised symbols, which results in respins. During these spins, you try to land more coins, which carry a cash prize. There are also special symbols for the jackpots. Usually, this is further combined with bonus spins, during which the prizes are larger than normal.
Multipliers are a constant feature, even if that is only doubling the wins during bonus spins. Wilds and scatters are plentiful, as always, and you’re bound to run into some specialised modifiers such as stacked symbols too. At times these different symbols can also take additional forms, such as moving wilds, scatters that pay wins in addition to activating bonus spins, or even collectible symbols which lead you along a trail of wins.
Sometimes you also get your hands on upgraded bonus spins. These allow you to choose between different volatility settings, and might even come with added features that are upgradeable. It’s quite obvious that fixed jackpots and bonus spins dominate the field when it comes to slots from Slingshot Studios.
The Legal Side of Things
Working under Games Global, a brand that as the name suggests operates globally, is pretty much a perfect match for a company of this size. Whilst they concentrate on producing games, the casino platform partner takes care of every little detail when it comes to licences and jurisdictions. This is why you can find these games in hundreds of casinos that accept Canadian players. Happy gaming!
