Great Blue Heron Casino Opens Elegant Event Venue

Great Canadian Entertainment is upping its live entertainment levels at Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel. This week, the operator announced the launch of a brand-new live entertainment centre at the gambling location near Port Perry, Ontario. Located on the land of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the new venue will bring some world-class entertainment to guests.

The casino is a hotspot for bettors with its plethora of gambling options, including a state-of-the-art floor, equipped with over 600 slot machines, 16 table games, 10 electronic table games, and a poker room. It also provides hospitality opportunities through its 116-room hotel, located near the gaming space and provides premium comfort for its visitors.

Set to Create Some Unforgettable Memories

The new live venue impresses with a total capacity of around 800 individuals, making it a tremendous place for live performances, concerts, and even corporate gatherings. Its versatile design allows numerous seating configurations, as there are options for round tables in banquet style, theatre seating, or general admission. Hence, providing flexibility on what events it can host.

The gaming establishmentā€™s new center spans an impressive 12,637 square feet, boasting a modern and expansive design. With an open-cell ceiling grid reaching approximately 4.4 meters (14 feet) in height, it not only enhances the overall appearance but also facilitates the seamless installation of a wide range of technical systems.

Stella Galant, General Manager of the casino, said the company is pleased to present this new and thrilling live entertainment and special events amenity. In her words, the new addition to the resort speaks volumes about the operatorā€™s commitment to offering a complete entertainment and event experience for guests, creating another reason for them to visit the gambling property.

In the fall of 2022, Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel made some significant upgrades to its gambling options, as it became one of the four Ontario casinos to launch retail sports betting via a Great Canadian Sportsbook. This was a long-awaited change for customers. The other three properties were Pickering Casino Resort, Elements Casino Brantford and Shorelines Casino Belleville.

However, the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation-owned destination is also devoted to offering responsible gambling. It offers a PlaySmart Centre on its gaming floor, where guests can find engaging interactive tools and valuable responsible playing resources. Including information on how to enroll in OLGā€™s PlayBreak program if they need a break from gambling activities.

First Nation Raises Alarms

The launch of the new event centre could help it with the recent competition from the newly launched Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto in the region. The First Nation shared concerns regarding the operatorā€™s partnership with Live Nation Canada, which would enable it to promote the new gaming resort in Toronto and bring more world-class talent to its entertainment centre.
