Play’n GO Makes Its Way into Ontario’s iGaming Industry

Just recently, prominent gaming supplier Play’n GO revealed that it is the next company to join Ontario’s highly-anticipated market for iGaming and sports betting operators. The developer has been given regulatory approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to join the market and offer its products legally to the local gamblers and other licensed entities.

The province has attracted an immense amount of interest as in the summer the federal government decriminalized single-event wagering. Now, on April 4, 2022, approved operators from the AGCO and its subsidiary iGaming Ontario will be able to offer their products online to gamblers from within provincial borders in a regulated and responsible manner.

License Acquired

After Play’n GO has received the official green light from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the supplier is now looking forward to April 4. Once the market makes its formal launch, the company will be able to present its innovative gambling products to the locals, and some of its most prolific titles are Book of Dead, Reactoonz, Rise of Olympus, Tome of Madness, and others.

Magnus Olsson, who is the Chief Commercial Officer of the company shared his excitement over the news. He elaborated those regulated markets are not only important for the provider, but for the gaming industry as a whole. In his words, they provide a safe gaming environment for players and allow operators to focus on delivering a complete experience that can also be sustainable.

He further commented that the province is an important jurisdiction as around 40% of the country’s population will now have access to the supplier’s trademark products. In addition to that, he added that Ontario is just the first of many North American target markets, as he revealed that soon the company will debut its brand in one more regulated market, but this time in the U.S.

Sissel Weitzhandler, Chief Risk and Compliance Officer for the gaming provider, shared that the company’s strategy continues to be engaging all regulated jurisdictions. On behalf of the supplier, she also thanked the AGCO for the license and indicated that the opening of the province’s iGaming market is an exciting and crucial milestone for the company on its North American journey.

The Competition

However, as Play’n GO has been licensed to operate in Ontario’s regulated market, the company is set to face fierce competition from other gambling brands. For instance, most recently, leading online sportsbook Bet365 announced that it will be making its way into the jurisdiction as it was awarded a license by the AGCO. This way, the company which was part of the gray market will now transition into the regulated one.

In addition to that, last week, Illinois-headquartered Rush Street Interactive also announced that it is now in possession of an Ontario iGaming license. The company already operates in the country, as it offers social gambling on CASINO4Fun® on BetRivers.ca. But starting from next month it will be able to offer its premium BetRivers app with real-money wagers to bettors.
