Albertan Wins Big from Lotto 6/49 Draw

This week a random Canadian lottery player has been transformed as a millionaire, as the Western Canada Lottery Corporation informs that someone from Alberta has won a hefty prize. According to the Crown corporation, the lucky ticket holder is somewhere from within the province, and he has won over CA$18 million from the last weekā€™s Lotto 6/49 draw.

Every year Canadians win million in lottery rewards by participating in the draw-based Lotto 6/49 game. Each week players have the opportunity of participating in the two draws one on Wednesdays and the other one on Saturdays, and battling for the main prize or the guaranteed one million ones. Tickets can be purchased in both physical and digital copies depending on oneā€™s location.

Next Big Winner

Alberta reports its first major lottery prize win since October 2019, as the Lotto 6/49 jackpot has been won by someone from the province. The Western Canada Lottery Corporation announced that someone has acquired that CA$18 million jackpot from the game on its official platform on Sunday. The winning ticket is only won in the country meaning that the winner will not split the main prize.

The Crown corporation did not provide any additional details on the winner as their name is currently unknown but advised all Lotto 6/49 to check their tickets and contact the agency about receiving their winnings. The lucky six numbers during Saturdayā€™s draw are 4, 5, 18, 28, 35, and 42. The combination has just secured CA$18,680,003.80 to the ticket holder from Alberta.

As of right now the single biggest lottery win in the province remains to the name of Tai Trinh from Calgary who grabbed the CA$65 million jackpot in the Lotto Max game in October 2019. Then in March 2020, Alan Connor from Elk Point has also won a significant prize from the national lottery as the ticket holder won CA$5 million in the January 2020 draw of Lotto 6/49.

Lotto Max Prize Piles On

Besides the claiming of the Lotto 6/49 jackpot of CA$18 million in Alberta, the Lotto Max one, however, remains unclaimed. The CA$21 million main prize was not won by anyone from the country, and residents will have the opportunity to acquire the prize in the next draw on July 13, when the jackpot will amount to CA$27,000,000.

Previous Winners

It is worth mentioning that the Lotto Max jackpot has been claimed once this month already. At the beginning of the month, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation revealed that the CA$65,000,000 main prize from the game has been obtained by a ticket holder from Ontario and who is residing in the York region in particular.

In June the Lotto Max jackpot reached its maximum capacity of the impressive amount of CA$70 million. After several weeks, the jackpot was finally claimed during the June 22 draw of the game, as the main prize was split between two players one from Toronto, Ontario, and the other one is located in British Columbia. The winning number combination was were 07, 11, 22, 28, 33, 44, and 49, and the bonus number was 10.
