The Landing Hotel’s Grand Opening in Schenectady Enchants Guests

Illusionist Steve Wyrick kicked off the event, celebrating the opening of the Landing Hotel on Tuesday, 18th July, performing a trick, which kept the attendees “under a spell” due to the memorable spectacle.

Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady celebrated the coming of the Landing Hotel with a fascinating show and a pinch of magic. To the surprise of all the people, who attended the event, illusionist Steve Wyrick appeared on the scene to break any physics law, performing a magic show. He made a full-size helicopter appear on the stage of Rivers Casino’s event center out of nowhere, which was the highlight of the event’s program.

To perform the trick, Wyrick asked the hotel staff in the audience to make a circle around the stage and hold their hands. Only in a couple of seconds, the helicopter appeared on the horizon of the event’s hall, piloted by a woman. Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady explained that the whole idea of the opening event was to be spectacular and thrilling.

The Landing hotel includes 165 hotel rooms, which are in close proximity to the Rivers Casino and resort. The hotel opened its doors for the first time on 18th July and it welcomed its first guests just the day after. Besides rooms, it offers also a fitness center, lounge, meeting space and outdoor patios.

In an interview earlier this month, casino General Manager Mary Cheeks explained that the name of the hotel is carefully chosen, comparing the feeling of a plane’s landing to the feeling of staying in The Landing hotel, describing both of them as something great. The hotel is included in the $330 million Rivers Casino & Resort development in Schenectady.

The hotel flung open its doors to the guests on 19th July, which coincided in time with the opening of the racing season at the Saratoga Race Course, which started on July 21.

Rivers Casino Hopes that with the launch of the Land hotel, the casino industry in Schenectady will revitalize. In 2013, the Schenectady County approved the licensing of the casinos in the area. Governor Andrew Cuomo was the main proponent of the idea, as he saw a potential in the casino industry to boost the economy of the city, which was worn out.

The Rivers Casino is the pearl in the crown in the city’s development project. The opening of the $330 million casino resort created many job opportunities and it is expected to generate massive gaming revenue for the state. The opening of the Landing hotel is supposed to attract even more players and tourists, who will be able to enjoy the luxurious atmosphere and perfect gaming experience.
