Penticton Casino Commits Donations to Youth Centre

Cascades Casino in Penticton in British Columbia has decided to enhance its contributions to the local OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre. This April the casino will be matching all donations of up to CA$2,500 to the organization, taking the baton from Wildstone Construction which mirrored all donations of up to CA$3,000 last month.

Operated by Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, the Penticton gaming facility is located at 201-553 Vees Dr., Penticton BC, V2A 8S3. It offers tons of gambling options as its gaming floor operates slots, table games, and poker, while also regularly providing exciting promotions. It is also equipped with the operatorā€™s trademark Match Eatery & Public House, the Buffet, and more.

Taking Over in April

For the month of April 2023, Cascades Casino Penticton will take over from Wildstone Construction and match donations to the ONSS centre worth up to CA$2,500. In addition to that, the casino has donated toys for kids with developmental challenges. In order to kick start the campaign, the property presented a CA$2,500 cheque to the organizationā€™s representatives.

Megan Windeler, the community engagement lead at OSNS, noted that children are able to learn developmental skills through play-based activities. She elaborated that the organizationā€™s toys are well-loved and well-used, and the casinoā€™s contribution of new toys will have a huge impact on the children the centre works with. The OSNS centre is located at 103-550 Carmi Avenue in Penticton.

In addition to the money and toy donations, Cascades Casinos said that it will also help the organization with the cleanup around the headquarters. The centre is visited by more than 1,600 children across the South Okanagan region, where they can take advantage of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, speech therapy and autism intervention services.

Shane Squires, Cascades Casinoā€™s general manager, said that the facility is proud of having a long-term relationship with the centre. He explained that their services are of immense matter to local families. That is why the casino believes it is important to show responsibility and give back to the centre, thus supporting causes that matter most to its neighbours.

Giving Back

It is not uncommon for casino properties in B.C. to look after their local communities and contribute to their activities. For instance, in the summer of 2022, RimRock Casino in Port Alberni used forgotten change and slips as contributions to local charities. The money was split between Abbeyfield House, the Salvation Army, and Kiwanis Hilton Childrenā€™s Centre.

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment is also not a stranger to showing support and contributing to local groups and communities in which it operates. One instance of that is its December 2022 donation to the Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario. The funds will be allocated to expand the Creative Art-Based Therapies in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Care Program.
