Great Canadian Gaming Shuts Down One More Property

It has been a tough couple of months for the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation as the company has to close down yet another of its gaming properties in the country. Yesterday on April 27, 2021, the gaming operator has announced that starting from Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. AST Casino Nova Scotia Sydney will be shutting down.

The latest closure comes shortly after the corporation has just shut down its other property in the province as Casino Nova Scotia Halifax is now inactive for visitors. The company oversees 26 casinos in the country with properties in Ontario, Nova Scotia, British Columbia, and New Brunswick, with the last one remaining the only one operational to this date.

Yet Another Closure

After an order from the provincial government of Nova Scotia, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation has been required to close down its other gambling hotspot in the province. The stay-at-home order suspends from operations many local businesses including in-person gambling. With this decision, the government is hopeful to prevent the spread of the unprecedented situation in the region.

Interim CEO of the gaming corporation Terrance Doyle has shared a few words after the following shutdown of the company’s gambling facilities. According to him, the Nova Scotia entities have been operating in a safe environment and have provided an opportunity for many of their staff members to return to work. He declared the new lockdown order to be an important measure in keeping the population of the province safe.

However, Mr. Doyle recognizes that the new restrictions continue the difficult situation for the gambling industry and its many workers in the province. He concluded by stating that they are eagerly monitoring the situation and the vaccination process and are patiently waiting for a possible reopening in the near future.

Out of the corporation’s 26 gaming properties only Casino New Brunswick remains active and welcomes guests. All of the casino properties in British Columbia are suspended from operations since March 2020. And recently the gaming leader has gradually closed down all of its Ontario properties as the provincial government has issued a new-stay-at-home order.

Just a few days earlier the gaming corporation had to close down its other casino property in the province. From April 22, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. AST Casino Nova Scotia Halifax has also suspended its services and shut down for an unknown period of time. Both of the province’s gambling halls were reopened a few months ago in January.

Last One Standing

As of today, the corporation’s Casino New Brunswick remains the only operational facility out of its 26 gaming properties in the country. The gambling hotspot reopened on February 12, 2021, and continues to welcome its guests. As with any other indoor entertainment, the casino operates under the mandatory health and safety measure of every individual wearing a face mask and keeping social distance. There is also a 50-player capacity.
