The player became the first one in the history of the PokerStars-powered series to scoop three titles within a week and to add a fourth one within eight days of play. The Russian’s latest triumph came as his eighth title from the WCOOP, which makes him the absolute record-breaker, holding three titles more than his nearest competitors.

Maimone Takes Down the 32-H: NLO8 [8-Max]

Playing from Canada, Maimone scooped US$31,222 for winning the US$530 buy-in 32-H: NLO8 [8-Max]. The player was the last survivor from a massive field of 336 entries. The tournament generated a prize pool of US$168,000 and the top 41 finishers were treated to a portion of the money.

Maimone is a well-recognized poker pro both online and on the live tournament scene. The player boasts live tournament earnings of more than $2 million. He had his big live poker moment back in 2016 when he emerged as the victor in the PCA US$25,000 High Roller. The player bested a field of 173 of the world’s top high rollers for a first-place prize of nearly $1 million, his largest career cash.

Other Notables Who Won Big on Day 8 of the WCOOP

A number of accomplished and well-known players took down WCOOP tournaments on Day 8 of this years edition of the series. Benny “RunGodLike” Glaser was one such big name. The player won the 27-L US$55 PLO [6-Max] for a first-place prize of US$18,057.56. Glaser is known to be a mixed-game expert. He has previously won a SCOOP Hi/Lo title. As for his live tournament performance, the player has more than won US$1.5 million in live tournament earnings and three gold bracelets from the WSOP.

German poker super star Ole “wizowizo” Schemion was, too, among yesterday’s victors. The player took down the 33-H NLHE [6-Max] with a buy-in fee of US$2,100. He topped a field of 294 entries to collect US$112,235.51 for his efforts.

As many as 15 events were completed yesterday. These saw a total of 37,834 entries who generated US$4,364,143 in prize money. There were 5,914 players to cash from the series on Day 8 of the 2018 WCOOP.
